Today, we visited the hospital in Ho Chi Minh City where Ivy was born. It had been remodeled since the last time we had visited in 2001. In 2001, we only sat in the lobby and took photos at the entrance gate. This visit, we were able to meet with the Vice Director of the hospital. It is amazing for me to imagine that this is where Ivy's life began, but some how she seemed unphased. We think that she might appreciate the visit more in the years to come.
Before the hospital visit, we made a great breakfast restaurant find. The hotel, Heong Sen Hotel, offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet in their restaurant. Our bill for a family of four non-hotel guests amounted to $10.
In the afternoon, we went shopping at Ben Thanh market. We bought a couple of pillow cases to use on our upcoming overnight train trip. We also bought a new pink ao dai (traditional vietnamese dress) for Olivia to wear for her visit to see her orphanage and to visit her primary caregiver tomorrow. While I was shopping for pillowcases, people were trying to sell items to Ivy and Olivia including a man that was hanging purses over Olivia's shoulder. Everywhere we go, people are most curious about the girls' being Vietnamese but their lack of ability to speak Vietnamese. This was especially noticeable at the market.
After shopping, we met Luan at Pho 2000 (another pho restaurant) near the market for dinner. This restaurant is known for a past visit by Hillary's husband, Bill, and Chelsea. ;?))
